Tofu Pad Thai is a flavorful and aromatic Thai stir-fried noodle dish. It typically includes rice noodles, tofu cubes, bean sprouts, peanuts, and lime. The dish is infused with a savory and slightly sweet tamarind-based sauce, often seasoned with garlic, shallots, and chili. Tofu Pad Thai recipe:
Ingredients:
- 8 oz rice noodles
- 1 cup firm tofu, cubed
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup bean sprouts
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1/4 cup crushed peanuts
- Lime wedges for garnish
For the Sauce:
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons tamarind paste
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
Instructions:
1. Cook rice noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, tamarind paste, maple syrup (or brown sugar), and Sriracha to make the sauce.
3. In a large pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and cubed tofu. Stir-fry until tofu is golden brown.
4. Add the cooked noodles to the pan, followed by the sauce. Toss everything together to ensure the noodles are well coated.
5. Add bean sprouts and sliced green onions, continuing to stir-fry for an additional 2-3 minutes.
6. Serve the Tofu Pad Thai on plates, garnished with crushed peanuts and lime wedges.
